Neck Explorer — Lap Steel
Tap any note to light it up across the CEGACE neck.
An interactive map of this reader's neck in CEGACE: tap a note and it lights everywhere it occurs, so the 6 strings stop being 6 separate strings to memorise.
A number chart is unreadable at session speed until this map is automatic, because the chart names a degree and expects a position back inside one beat. Nobody gets that from a chord book; it comes from knowing where one pitch lives in three places.
A lap steel player reads a number as a fret to slide to, with an open tuning underneath that already spells one chord — so the chart is read as a series of distances from wherever the bar happens to be. There is nothing to finger and no grip to form — the diagram is one straight bar across a fret, so the digit resolves to a single place to be, and everything expressive happens on the way there.
