Fingerboard Explorer — Upright Bass
Tap any note to light it up across the EADG fingerboard.
An interactive map of this reader's fingerboard in EADG: tap a note and it lights everywhere it occurs, so the 4 strings stop being 4 separate strings to memorise.
A number chart is unreadable at session speed until this map is automatic, because the chart names a degree and expects a position back inside one beat. Nobody gets that from a chord book; it comes from knowing where one pitch lives in three places.
An upright player reads the same root the electric reads and a longer way to get to it — the chart says which number, and the distance between two numbers on this fingerboard is what decides whether it is walked or arrived at. The digit is the same digit the electric got; what differs is the distance the left hand covers to reach it, which is why this reader looks at the NEXT number sooner than anyone.
